Next Door at Ottawa NWR - 05/22/09

This morning a female Ruff was seen on the mud flats on Pool 2A. She was found during the morning bird walk. This sighting caused a lot of excitement.

NOTE:
The information in this and the May bird count posting are FYI as these reportings were several days old when I was notified of them.

Magee Marsh Monthly Bird Count May 19

Birds seen and heard on the bird count between 6 AM and 11 AM. I didn’t have a scope, so waterfowl suffered as a consequence. The Kirtland’s has been hanging around for a couple days now, but it seems that the number of migrating birds is decreasing, though diversity of warblers is still high.
